About us
Welcome to Kingsthorpe Ladies and Girls Football Club, the first all female football club in Northampton. Our aim is to
encourage ladies & girls into a previously male dominated sport and to
develop and support those players who wish to play the sport.
We are
an F.A. Charter Standard Development Football Club; all Kingsthorpe Ladies and
Girls F.C. Managers/Coaches are F.A. qualified and hold current Emergency Aid
certificates, all have also been voluntarily Police Checked for the purposes of
Child Protection. The club is affiliated to the Northampton Football
Association, and has an appointed Child Welfare Officer.
Kingsthorpe Girls Football
Club started off playing as part of Sunnyside Warriors F.C. in the 2000/2001
season, before setting up as a solely girls Football Club in June 2001, but with
the introduction of a ladies team in 2005, the club then changed its name to
Kingsthorpe Ladies & Girls Football Club.
Since we have formed, we
have had considerable success both on and off the field, starting with just one,
7-a-side team. In our first season we won the Weetabix Youth League at Under
13’s unbeaten (24 matches, 170 goals scored and only 19 conceded), in subsequent
seasons, we have continued this success, with at least one team winning the
league. We have since gone on to win many other titles and Cups at various ages
and have grown to our current 7 teams with over 100 ladies and
girls
Some of our players
have achieved greater success by being chosen for the Northampton Town Female
Centre of Excellence, Rushden & DiamondsSchool of
Excellence. Some have gone to play for major clubs such as Aston Villa F.C. and
more recently the England under 15s squad.
With the help of
Northampton Borough Council Sports Development Officer’s, in 2001 and again in
2004, we applied for and were awarded Awards For All grants totalling over
£6,500.00. This money is for indoor and outdoor training, pitches, training
equipment and coaching. This means that we can offer good facilities to enable
us to develop the players potential.
We hope to build the club
and the squads, by welcoming new players.
We are a friendly, family
based club and encourage everyone to get involved with the club, both on and off
the pitch. All our members are invited to make any suggestions regarding the
Club and its activities; we run a policy of consultation on all major decisions;
all committee meetings are open meetings, and minutes and club accounts are
available (on request) for all members to see.
As well as the football
success of the players, they have all made firm friends, and are a pleasure to
watch and train.
